Detroit Will Soon Have Temptations Lane and Miracle Boulevard Detroit renames several streets for Motown artists. Detroit, Mi -- The biggest names in Motown are returning to Detroit to see their names on the streets. The former Jeffries project in Detroit, where many Motown artists grew up, has been redeveloped as Woodbridge Estates, a mixed-income and mixed-ownership development. On Friday, a celebration will officially unveil the re-naming of several streets for Motown acts, such as Temptations Lane and Miracle Boulevard. On Saturday, the Motown singers will be part of a gala celebration at Berry Gordy's former mansion to unveil new recordings and re-recorded versions of classics by many of those artists. Musicians expected to attend the events include Otis Williams of The Temptations, Mary Wilson of The Supremes, The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, The Miracles, Freda Payne, Katharine Shafner of The Marvelettes and members of the Motown backing band The Funk Brothers.

I read about that in the paper, here in Detroit. I work with Joe Schaffner, former road manager of the Supremes and Katherine Anderson Schaffners S.O. We were in the break room and he was so excited he dropped the paper in front of me! It was so cool. How awesome to one day be able to say, I live on Aretha Franklin Rd. off Four Tops Avenue. LOL!
