I was excited about the earlier reviews about their new show to the extent that I knew I had to find a a concert and see this show for myself. And last night I saw it in Panama City.
The conecrt was fantastic. While all the reviews have raved about the new format, they underestimated it. It is sensational! And what other superlative adjectives can I find.
They wore the dark blue jackets, black pants and shirt, red accent piece.
But the evening began with an antique car display (cars in the 1960's and all in pristine condition) in front of the Civic Center, located on the bay, Palm Trees swaying, gentle breeze, wonderful temperatures. I was out in front looking at the cars and talking to the owners. G.C. and Terry came to look over the cars. What fun! I got to talk to to them about the cars and which one each preferred. It was such a pleasant experience. People asked to have their pictures taken with them, and G.C. put his arm around me and said, "Come on, get in this picture." Well, I tell you, the evening began well but got better and better.
Some of the people sitting around me had never been to a Temptations concert and knew little about them. By the time the evening ended, they were not only in love with the Tempts but amazed, astonished, at how unbelievably good they were.
It was interesting watching the audience respond to the opening music; it had a tremendous effect on them. You could see and feel them get more and more excited and by the time the Tempts began to walk on stage, the audience as a whole rose and clapped and shouted and screamed. Excellent selection of opening music.
The excitement of the concert just grew and grew. Maybe it was the acoustics of the auditorium, but the Tempts sounded sooo good, and each song seemed better than the last. The audience screamed even louder at every dance, and the Tempts never let up, never eased off. They were fast and furious with the feet.
The interaction of the Tempts with each other and with the audience was terrific and added to the fun. If you can believe it, I find myself at a loss for words to describe how good this concert was.
If anyone knows who planned this program, selected the intro and the musical selections, developed the choreography, interplay between Tempts and audience, etc. tell them Congratulations. It is a winner!
