Okay, I've been listening to this song, and I noticed during a break in the lyrics the guitarist plays the same EXACT riff from the intro of The Temptations "(I Know) I'm Losing You". So what I was wondering was, who used it first. Did one sample the other?

It is the riff from Losing You but their song was recorded before it came out. And one other thing...it was just recorded one time.....Otis vocals were not what they wanted but they had no intention of releasing it........Somehow it got released and becamse a hit.

There are so many songs that were recorded a long while before they came out. One of the most interesting results was Marvin Gaye's "Grapevine" which was recorded quite a while before Gladys Knight's. After Knight's reached #1, someone decided to release Gaye's version, and it too made it to #1, even lasting longer there than Knight's.
