Okay, topic has been cleaned up, and let's continue this discussion respectfully....or else... Yes Weaky, I would definitely like to continue this conversation on a respectful level. Let's deal with the subject of Dennis being a better singer than David. Weaky, I think you can back me up on this, because like me, you are a singer and know a great deal about singing. Most people say he or she is a awesome singer because what.....because they sound good. Because the songs they sing, they nail them, but the songs they sing are ones that are chosen to fit their particular voice. Smooth, I believe you said that Dennis has a stronger voice than David. That definitely doesn't mean he is a better singer than David. A great singer is characterized by there versatility.....can they sing in all/different ranges. Can you put any song to sing in any particular range and they can nail it everytime. Dennis has a strong, church voice...and if I'm not mistaken most people with church voices are limited. They can sing no doubt and may sound good singing church songs where you have to yell out from within, but if you give them an uptempo song or a song to sing in falsetto the entire time, or even sing in harmony they may not be able to so well. Not that they can't sing, they just are underdeveloped. David on the other hand, we have heard him sing countless songs and all them are not sung in the same range. He is very versatile....so when it comes to the better singer, its not who has a stronger voice but who is the actuall better 'singer' as far as their versatility. Second, let's deal with the classic 5. There will never be and was only one classic 5. David, Paul, Eddie, Melvin, and Otis. It even took the classic 5 to come up with some hits when they first arrived at Motown. Motown had a particular Motown, classic sound...that also included the beginning acts of Diana Ross and the Supremes, Martha Reeves and The Vandellas, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and the such...When The Way You Do The Things You Do and My Girl were hits, that was the classic 5. Dennis only took the Temptations or rather helped the Temptations go in a different direction of what they were delivering to America. The sound of Motown soon began to change from what the classic 5 distributed. You can tell because Pschedelic Shock and Cloud Nine does not sound anything like songs from any Motown artist during the time of the Classic 5. It is not right to assume that just because Dennis came into the group, the Temptations received a grammy. It was the building of the Classic 5 that opened the door to the Temptations receiving a grammy. Dennis did his part but no way without the original lineup including David. And for the record....Cloud Nine was not Motowns first grammy. That is what we are talking about when we say present facts. Go to Classic.Motown.com and you will see the first grammy under Motown was Mary Wells, "You Beat Me To The Punch". Third, let's discuss this entire Temptations name. Dennis was no where in sight when the Temptations came up with that name outside Hitsville. They were none as the Temptations before Dennis even came in the picture. He wants the name, to get into shows and all of that....well brother if you are that good why do you need to get a name that has already been used and inducted in the Hall of Fame. He says its only a matter of words, "The old guys are gone"....how dare he let that come out of his mouth. They are gone but we still honor them for what they did. They paved the way for boy band groups of the such, and you want to just throw it aside for your own group, no bruh that is not how it works. Don't you know that that can cause fans to be angry if you show up at a concert with the name of the legendary group and do a show that doesn't meet people's expectations. One member of the Temptations is still here, alive and kicking, and also doing shows....Otis...and that name is entitled to him and honored to all the Temptations, not to be used just to get into shows. You can't take that away from somebody, especially when that name is more than just a few words...its what he went through with his fellow brothers, the good times, bad times, hits, when they didn't have hits, all. Was Dennis there when Smokey couldn't write them a hit.... Dennis did not experience everything with that group...only the original member....Otis. Dennis also said in the article that the last 25 years the Temptations has been my life..well what about from before then. Edwards joined in 1968, but the group was originated and received hits before Edwards joined and once again Otis was a part of that classic 5 group...so the name should stay with Otis. And if you really want to get technical, Edwards is a great guy I'm sure, great singer, I'm not knocking him...its just the things he is saying in this article, let's look at the groups. Otis has stayed with the Temptations, same name, loyal, and all, but Dennis has been a part of I know 3 groups. The Contours, The Temptations, and now this group. With all different groups. If you want your own group, make it your own group, name, sound, everything not anyone else. And there is something suspicious about him saying "Me and Otis had a little split-up so I formed the Temptations Review", what that all about. One last thing, Edwards is joined by 4 other guys to make this so called Temptations Review and says they sound just like the old guys. Brother man, once a legacy has been created and lives in our hearts,...why would we want somebody to come and try to duplicate that. That is why there is only one temptations movie, not the Temptations part 2,3,4,5, and so on. Look back in history and record labels and see how successful they have become when trying to duplicate an artist(s) once they have left the scene, nobody wants to hear another Michael Jackson...why because Michael has done his thing and left a mark that cannot be duplicated...its too risky in trying and its not worth it. People are not crazy, they will see what you are trying to do. Come on we are talking about the Temptations..My Girl, Ain't Too Proud to Beg, the Motown Sound...it cannot be duplicated. And we will always love the Temptations.
